On this one day workshop students will be shown how to get the most from their sewing machine. Using own machine or one or ours, watch demonstrations and hands on experience. You will see samples and other projects and learn how to achieve these results. After this taster day, you may wish to attend further workshops to extend your skills.

| Workshop with Kerry Forkner Introduction to Machine Embroidery
Learn the full potential of your sewing machine and explore the fascinating technique of machine embroidery. You will need a swing needle machine with the ability to lower or cover your feed dogs. To allow free machining. We will start by exploring the automatic stitches on your machine to create interesting surfaces with applied ribbons and fancy fabrics. Use machine appliqué techniques working through to free machine embroidery on painted backgrounds and soluble fabrics. You will create a range of samples which can be used on bags, cushions or clothing

| Workshop with Sara Withers Making Beads with Polymer Clay
Enjoy a day spent learning to use Polymer clays (Fimo etc). You will learn to condition and shape the clays so that you can make beads, buttons, and pendants, in a wonderful array of colours and shapes. The day will be suitable for complete beginners or those with a little experience. All tools and materials will be provided by the tutor. This day can be combined with the jewellery making day – you can use the beads that you have made in your jewellery making. A good excuse to join a jewellery making course.

Make earrings, bracelets and necklaces from beads. Learn about threads, basic knots and how to use different finding in jewellery making. Fee includes basic materials. There will be more beads to buy, if you choose to. All tools provided, but bring tools, beads or even broken bead jewellery you have. Suitable for complete beginners, or those with a little experience. You will need some dexterity and good eyesight, or glasses!

| Quiltfest 2010
Featuring Effie Galletly with her exhibition ‘A Sense of Place’ at The Museum, Parade Street, LL20 8PW. Contemporary Quilt will be showing works from their Breakthrough series at Plas Newydd, Hill Street, LL20 8AW. Lisbeth Williams, C & G Gold Medal winner will have work from her collection. Quiltfest will be open every day 10 – 4pm, except at The Museum which opens 2pm on Wednesdays.
Quiltfest Trading Sunday 14th Feb at the Town Hall with quilts on show by local well known artists
Sat 20th & Sun 21st will have Borderlands Exhibition, again at the Town Hall with quilts and other items made by local quilters.
Quiltfest will NOT be at The International Pavilion as in previous years due to extensive repair work at the site.
